Fixing Broken Windows

The Baseball that Broke the WindowsLast weekend we had the unfortunate problem of having a baseball go through the windows on our house.  Two of them were broken while we were playing ball out in the yard and my wife wasn’t happy.  I don’t blame her, but it was an accident, and it was something that we were going to have to fix.

But we didn’t have the money.

Thankfully it was a pay week, so I received my paycheck on Thursday and now we have the funds to fix the window on the house.  I know that you are going to tell me that I could just use my insurance, but it really isn’t an option right now, so we are going to pay for it out of our pockets.

So, I decided to find a shop that sold Milgard windows in Toluca Lake.  I was not only trying to find someone that could do the work on short notice, but do the repairs at a price we could afford.

Thankfully, I was able to find both.

The techs were out today replacing the broken windows and by mid-afternoon, everything was completed.

It was a painless experience.

While I wish this wouldn’t have happened, I did learn one thing: it is not smart to play baseball in your own backyard.

Picked Up a New Uniform for Work

For the last six months, I have been working as an esthetician at a local salon during evenings and weekends.  It has been a good job that has allowed me to focus on my college work during the week and allows me to put some extra money in my pocket as well.  My boss has been very accommodating working around my schedule, and since I love doing nails anyway, it is a good fit for where I am in life right now.

But one of the things that I have wanted to change for some time is buying a new uniform for work.  Since I didn’t really have any extra money when I started my job, I had to use a used uniform that they had kicking around the salon, and while functional, it was old and worn out.  Many of my clients made comments about it and I decided that once I had enough cash that I would buy myself a new one.

That is exactly what happened just a few days ago.

You see, I was looking at some grooming apparel online and I found a cute blue rhinestone jacket for less than $40.  It was designed for people working in my field, so not only did it look good but it was going to be durable and functional as well.  Since I had enough room on my credit card, I ordered one and it showed up yesterday.

It is perfect.

I can’t wait to see what my clients say when they see me in my new uniform – it will be nice to get some positive comments for a change.

Visited my Aunt this Week

While I don’t get a lot of time off from my job, I try to make the most of it.  This means that I go on trips for myself, and sometimes I go visit relatives to help them out.  That is exactly what I managed to do last week when I went to visit my Aunt Joanne.

When I was younger, my aunt Joanne took care of me, so as an adult I try to take care of her.  She is on her own, so I try to help out where I can.

This week, I was there helping her fix the windows on her house.  One of the kids on the block had thrown a baseball through her window, and it needed to be replaced.

Since I was not an expert when it came to replacing windows, we decided that it made sense to find a place that specialized in replacement windows in Los Angeles instead.  They would be able to do the job properly and in a short amount of time, so it made the most sense.

So that is exactly what we did.

I managed to find a contractor that replaced the window and by the time they were done, the house looked as good as new.  Hopefully the kids on the block won’t be throwing balls around her house any time soon..

Planning Next Weekend

It is hard to believe this weekend is already just about over.  Seems like it has been too few hours away from work, but in less than twenty four hours from now I will be back behind the office doing my job.  Instead of being depressed over how short the weekends truly are, I have decided to look forward to the future and start planning next weekend.

It should be fun.

While it would be great to just have a weekend off from the world and do something fun, I have a lot of work to get done in the next couple of months.  I just would rather check things off of my checklist during these warmer months as some of them need to be completed during the summer.

Looking towards the next weekend, I am planning to checkout Tuscany Milgard Windows In La Caniada for a good buddy that is doing some home renovations, get some baking done and maybe even stop-in and visit my parents.  I haven’t seen them in a couple of months, so I should make some time for them – I know that they won’t be around forever, so I need to make sure that I make time for them.

So far next weekend is shaping up to be a lot of fun.  Only seven more days before I will know for sure.

Reading the Saturday Paper

What a lovely day.  I have been out of my house all day shopping and drinking coffee.  While it feels like I have accomplished some things, it also seems like today has gone by too quickly.  In an attempt to slow things down, I decided that I would sit down and have a coffee while reading today’s paper.

Sitting down and sipping on my favorite coffee in Starbucks, I opened up my paper and started reading the headlines.  I was looking for some kind of cheery story to break up all of the negative news coming our lately.  This past week has been pretty bad here in our country, and I decided that I wanted a break.

They had some comic strips in this paper, right?

After reading a number of comics, I felt a little bit better.  It is amazing how some laughter can really make a big difference in your life, and I noticed how much the laughing really helped me feel better and happy.

Moving on from the comics, I discovered some good deals in the classifieds section for some Milgard Windows In Toluca Lake that would be perfect for one of my friends.  I ripped out the ad and I’ll give it to him the next time we see each other.

Reading the paper really put a smile on my face.
