Buying my Niece a Kindergarten Graduation Gift

It is really amazing how fast children grow up.  Just a few years ago, my brother welcomed his daughter into the world and I enjoyed holding her in my arms.  It reminded me of being a parent too, and that certainly put a smile on my face.

Now, just five years later, she has graduated kindergarten.  She is so proud of her accomplishment and we have decided that we are going to get her the best kindergarten graduation gift we can find.

So, we are going out shopping today to find the perfect gift for her – she deserves it.

Training with Bluetooth Barcode Scanners

Recently, the company that I have been working with decided to change the equipment for all the staff working out in the field.  We had been using small portable bar scanners that had to be plugged into a cash register to work.  This meant that we had to lug around a heavy cash register wherever we went.

Now things are changing with the introduction of the bluetooth barcode scanner.  We are actually attending a training seminar on how to use them later this week and I am excited – it is always fun to learn something new.

Reading Magazines by the Pool

One of the best parts about summer is sitting outside by the pool at home.  It is a great way to relax and makes me feel like I am at a resort.

Most of the time I sit in my zero-gravity chair and read magazines.  Today I was sitting there reading about adapexin and other weight loss pills in the health magazine I had.  Also, I took some time to catch up with technology and read some of the last Harry Potter book.

Talk about the perfect day…

Saving Some Money with Coupons

Sometimes I really feel like I spend way too much while I am out shopping.  But when you consider that I need to keep my kids clothed, food on the table and keep the yard looking great during the summer, there is definitely reason to spend the money I do.

But after watching a number of episodes of Extreme Couponing, I think I might have found a way to spend a little less at the grocery store.  I’m not going to be as crazy as the people on that show, but I intend to start small by clipping walmart coupons to save some money.

I have a number of them clipped out, but I will be finding some more during the week.  I will be making my first coupon shopping trip this weekend – I’ll try to report back how much money I saved.  Wish me luck!

Instead of Sending Postcards

One of the things that we have tried to do every year is send postcards to our family when we go on family vacation each year.  I know that it may sound cheesy, but I think that everyone (especially the grandparents) love receiving them in the mail.  It lets them know that we are thinking of them even while we are on holidays.

This year we have decided to try something a little different.  We have taken some pictures and we are going to order some holiday photo cards to send to our relatives instead.  This way they can have an actual picture of us on holidays instead of some random general picture.  I think they will love it!
