Keepsakes for our Children
One of the things that my parents did for us when we were children was purchase some gold coins issued the year that we were born. The idea was that it would be a great keepsake for us when we were older, and potentially a great investment.
My wife and I decided to follow my parents footsteps and buy some coins for our own children and carry on the tradition. We made a point of buying five for each child so that they could keep one and use the proceeds from the sale of the others to help pay for their education or a down payment on their first home.
We just gave our last daughter her coins and I am happy to say that none of my children have sold theirs yet – though in this market, I think it would be a good choice, right?
