Public Safety Degrees Helps to Prepare Leaders for the Worst
One of the things that has changed over the last decade has been the increasing threat of terrorism. From 9/11 to suicide bombers, it seems that no one can truly escape the risk of encountering some form of terrorism. The result of this changed climate has made the roles of our emergency response teams (including police, fire fighters, and emergency response personnel) even more important.
There have been more stringent requirements introduced lately in our local agencies that ensure public safety in terms of the education required for the leaders in these organizations. All of them must have an accredited public safety degree so that they know what needs to be done in times of crisis.
The change was made in response to the public’s need to have peace of mind knowing that our emergency response personnel and law enforcement agencies could be directed to handle any situation in the best manner possible.
I do realize that we don’t really live in a locale that would make a good target for any type of terrorist related activity, but it doesn’t hurt to be prepared, right?
