Do You Really Need an iPhone?

by George Blade

The Apple iPhone tops the list when it comes to mobile communications and computing. Even so, there are a lot of people who aren't really aware of what it is, what it does and all the amazing features it has to offer. No doubt it's a great product, one that has enjoyed much hype. But at the same time, there are quite a few features on the AppleiPhone that are not necessarily going to be of value to everyone.

It's actually a lot more than just a mobile phone. It's the most advanced smartphone to date, and has more features than most people will know what to do with. However, you'll be throwing your money away on the monthly contract fee if you don't actually use everything the device has to offer. Make sure that you don't buy one of these wonder phones without understanding their capabilities and deciding whether the assorted features are something you'll actually use.

It's genuinely astonishing how many options the iPhone has to offer. It's both a cell phone and a media player. It amalgamates all the hottest electronic equipment available these days into one gadget. Not only is this device a cell phone but it's also a digital camera, music and video player, personal digital assistant, and an online communications package. As well, it operates on the Apple OS-X.

Among the features that this device is best recognized for is its touch screen. This lets the user more easily access all the tools and toys that are available, including their contact list and their call and email history. Another benefit is its enhanced interactivity, a feature many people are becoming dependent on with a mobile phone.

Another advantage of the iPhone is that there are so many applications that you can download separately to make the device even more useful. For example, you can download Google Reader which lets you scan the latest headlines on the internet, just like you would if you were on your home computer. Then there's iPhone Chat, an application that enables you to log into AOL Instant Messenger and do everything there that you could do on your home computer.

A lot of people will get a considerable amount of use out of these features, both for business and pleasure. But others might discover that they just don't need that much technology at their fingertips. There are simpler devices that offer fewer bells and whistles, which are enough for the needs of a lot of people.
