Get your practice shots at the range appear on the golf course
Having a great swing in golf can be a curse. I know many people who have great swings but can't convert on the golf course. It's almost a curse where you have the mechanics down but you just can't score well. This proves that there's something else out there we need.
After years of teaching, it has become increasingly apparent that the game is being approached incorrectly. You see, we all need to take a step back and ask the question How do the pros reach such stellar levels and my game is lackluster at best?
To answer, these pro's hit millions of balls a day (well, maybe millions is a tad bit of a stretch..but you get my point). Secondly, they have a coach. Third, they know how to take their practice to the course..which I feel is the biggest trick that we don't know how to do.
So now we know the key is to take what we learn on the range to the course. The only method I know about is while practicing, you have to imagine that you are on the course actually playing. Imagine you are getting ready to hit a shot.
If you are doing this right, you will start to feel some sort of emotion. If you do not feel a thing, then you are probably a social golfer and you could care less what you shoot...you SAY you want to get better...but it doesn't matter. In either case, you are searching for the moment which is found in your pre-shot routine. Take a breath...do your thing but imagine your shot, how you are going to execute it...and don't approach your shot until you are locked in.
When you have decided and are in the moment, go ahead and hit the ball. See if you actually have that shot in your bag. You will probably wake up to the fact that you don't...and you are not alone. There's nothing wrong with this....keep repeating this process till you have your shot with the moment in your pre-shot routine. Happy Golfing!
