My Brother has Lost Some Weight

After my brother had been working at his job for just two years, he put on over a hundred pounds.  You see, he was a security guard and spent a lot of time sitting in a car.  With his lack of activity, and generous helpings of fast food, I suppose it was inevitable that he would gain a ton of weight.

But I was surprised to see him when he came to our home to visit.  He not only looked lighter, but I would have to say he looked the best he had in a long time.  As it turned out, he was taking one diet pill per day and was seeing some amazing results.

I hope that he continues what he is doing – it would be great to see him get back to his old weight – I think it would make his wife feel a lot better.

Fixing Up the Bathroom

Since we moved into our new home, my wife has been making a list of things that she wants to renovate in the home.  I was hoping that we wouldn’t deal with it for awhile, but it seems like she has different plans.

I noticed a problem when she came home with new light fixtures for the bathroom – I guess her renovation dreams were becoming a reality.

Well that isn’t entirely true – the renovations won’t start until the weekend… I can’t wait…

Breathing Life into an Old Computer

My six year old son told me recently that he needed his own computer.  When I asked him why, he told me that if he was going to succeed in the world, he would have to know how to use computers better than his daddy.

Not one to argue, I decided that he could have an old one that was kicking around the house.  The trouble was that there was no memory left in the computer – I’d have to buy some.

So, I went online to find some cheap computer memory and thankfully I was able to find a company that still sold the type of RAM that I needed.

I will have to wait until it gets here and then I will be able to put the computer together for him – hopefully he can wait that long.

Creating a Themed Room in our Home

My wife has traveled all over the world because of her job and she decided that she was going to bring some of that culture back to our home.  I told her that she could provided she did all the work herself – I would have no idea what to do.

She showed me some pictures of Moroccan lanterns that she had seen on her trips around the world and they looked amazing.  I asked if she could get some for our room in our home – if it was okay with her of course.

She went out shopping the next day and came home with Moroccan lanterns for our room.  I know that it is only a start, but it looks like the room is starting to come together.  I hate to admit it, but I can’t wait to see how the room turns out.

Making Healthy Choices in 2009

After stepping on the scale this year, I realized that I am not getting any lighter.  In fact, it seems that since I passed my thirtieth birthday, I have done nothing but put on weight.  Not only does that worry me, but it means that I can’t count on youth to keep me healthy – it is my turn to take responsibility for my health.

So, I have bought a book on healthy grilling and a grill to cook my food on.  I figure that by cooking healthy food instead of frying it, I should be able to lose a bit of weight.  I’ll report back with my results at a later date.
