Safety features of bunk beds.

by Todd Martin

Usually popular with the kids, twin bunk beds are a great space saving solution as they use less floor space and use the vertical space. Kids may actually use all their negotiating power to decide who gets to sleep below. If you are trying to save money by buying cheap bunk bed then you should realize that you are compromising with the quality and safety of the product.

One must remember safety aspects of a bunk bed before buying one and so when looking for a cheap bunk bed remember that you may be risking your child’s health – remember that one of the fun aspects of a bunk bed is its elevation, which is also a risk and a sturdy ladder and a safety rail are both of utmost importance. Bearing that in mind, bunk beds are a great option for kid’s beds, in so many different situations. They offer options that regular beds don’t, both for saving space and for making good use of space. Kids love them and they look good. And they’re functional.

Before buying a bunk bed, check its sturdiness by placing your hand on the top bed and shaking the whole piece to check if there is any movement. Make sure you get child friendly bunks. Make sure the top bunk has good railings to prevent falls; don’t buy bunks with no railings on the top. And make sure they have good solid stairs. And don’t get bunks with corner posts that stick up above the railing, kids can catch things on them and fall, or hang off them, which isn’t great. Always make sure the lighter child sleeps on the top bed. The best bunk bed to consider would be a full bed on the bottom and a twin bed on top. The wider bed below would create a better balance. Consider buying bunk beds that can be separated, because as the children grow older, the beds will be still useful. They can be used as separate beds.

You would be doing a favor to you and your kids by buying a better quality bunk at a bargain price, instead of a “cheap bunk bed” which could be potentially unsafe.

As potential buyer this limits you to two options. The first is to find online you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the prices you can find. There are some very good quality cheap bunk beds like twin bunk beds around in places you wouldn’t have thought of. It’s the same as with so many products now. Low overheads mean that sellers can sell cheaply online, and still make a profit. So if you’re looking for cheap bunk beds do so online, you’ll be surprised at how cheap those bunk beds can be. The second options is to look at the used bunk bed market – if you make a full inspection to make sure the bed is from a reputable manufacturer and is in good condition then your saving can be huge.
