Be Ready to Quit Smoking

by Darren Warmuth

I know what you’re thinking. You are thinking that you can’t possibly have read that right - but it’s true. If you are looking to become a non-smoker, then quitting is one of the last steps you should take. Please allow me to explain.

For most smokers the thought of quitting rarely crosses their minds. That is until one factor or another brings the idea to the forefront of their thoughts. Perhaps they have had a health scare. Perhaps they are finally noticing the toll that smoking is taking on their bodies. Whatever the reason is doesn’t matter. What does matter is that in actually taking the steps to quit, education and preparation MUST come before you stop.

You need to prepare and educate yourself to succeed in quitting smoking. Just as you wouldn’t attempt to rebuild your car’s engine just because you bought a set of tools off the shelf, similarly don’t suffer under any illusion that your resolve is all you need to do to quit smoking. And, there are no off-the-shelf remedies that will help you in your determination to stop smoking. Some would argue that the trial-and-error method would finally get them to the point of making the car engine, but it is a long and frustrating process. Why go through all that torture when you can get there easily through proper preparation and education.

So, it is best to follow a systematic program for quitting smoking. There are many programs displayed on the internet. While selecting the best program, it is best to compare a number of them; judge the merits and demerits of each, and then select the one that discloses the steps of the process and not the one that jumps to the conclusions. They may promise the moon but deliver nothing fantastic, and demoralize you in the bargain. Make sure that the program you are buying is based on providing information and guiding you step-by-step through the tedious journey of breaking your old habit. The ideal program would encourage you to take your time to learn and prepare and a bad one will want you to place your faith in a product by claiming that there is no effort required on your part.

Nothing comes without a little effort from you - especially this. Remember, quitting is the easy part - you just stop. It’s the preparations you take before you quit that determines if you’ll be successful or not. So make sure you have all the data you need before you try and you will be the success you want to be.

Best of Luck,
