Adult Acne and Pregnancy

Women gets adult acne during pregnancy. Even they never had acne during their teens, they may facing acne problem when they become pregnant. For some women, acne will recurs although existing acne virtually disappear during pregnancy.

During the first three months of pregnancy, adult acne tends to be worse. The levels of hormones have become unbalance where the progesterone is more androgenic than estrogen. It produce more secretions of your skin glands and lead to more acne.

Although adult acne is unpredictable during pregnancy, acne usually clears up after the trimester while progesterone is produced by the placenta and not the ovaries. You may wish to treat your acne during pregnancy, but be aware that certain medications taken by mouth or applied to your skin may be potentially harmful to a developing fetus. However, there are some adult acne treatments which are natural scientific product without any side effects can be used to treat acne.

Plan Before You Get Pregnant

Consult your dermatologist or health care provider if you are planning to get pregnant. Acne treatment which you normally use before pregnant, such as tetracycline antibiotics, oral isotretinoin and topical retinoids, can be harm to your baby. Topical acne-fighting preparation is one of the ways to treat adult acne during pregnancy.

For acne treatment during pregnancy, your dermatologist may prescribe Erythromycin. This antibiotic is an important ingredient in many topical prescription products. If possible, it is probably better to avoid all medications although many skin bacteria are resistant to it now.

During Pregnancy

Benzoyl peroxide cream which is drying acne treatment may not be suitable as your skin is dry out more than normal during pregnancy. For the use on spots and blemishes, natural product such as tea tree oil is recommend. If you have blackheads and oily skin, you can use use the clay masks like kaolin and bentonite clay to absorb the oils and blocked pores on your face.

There are some oral medicines that can be dangerous if taken during pregnancy. There are a few you can take or substitute with a topical application, but if you are not aware of the differences, you may have abnormalities. We highly recommend taking acne treatment that using natural ingredients to treat acne pregnancy.

It is very common that women get adult acne during pregnancy, although you do not experience it before. Until now, it can not be avoid from developing during pregnancy. However, by using the proper acne treatment, your skin will probably clear up and return to its natural with time.
