Hopes of Health Care Reform Finally Coming to Fruition
As Americans, we can't help but wonder what lies ahead for our country. With a new party taking over and a new President going to take office in just a few months, we can only hope for the changes in the health care system that we have been promised. As we all know, although I believe they have the best of intentions, the truth is that once a new President comes into office, the fact is things may change or they may not we just have to wait and see.
If the new President could manage to iron out the insurance markets and lower health insurance premiums, making sure we all can afford health care, that would be magnificent. I think this would be a true test for Obama.
Like many other Americans, most of us rely on your jobs for our health insurance. At least having a decent policy usually requires a decent job. Unfortunately, some Americans do not have this advantage.
Often times having a plan through your job means you pay a portion of the actual premiums, while the company pays the rest. This can mean you pay a lot or a little, depending on your coverage, and your company's benefits package. Some company's do not like to take on larger portions of coverage, and prefer to let the employees bear the brunt of them. The bottom line is, we pay whatever it is, because if something major happened, we would be up a creek with no coverage.
Ideally, it would be great to see our premiums lowered, or at least not raised. Time will be a big factor in this change. Our new President has a lot to live up to, and he will probably want to show some changes pretty quickly. Our country has been doing a poor job taking care of us health wise, now is the time to change that.
