The Boogey Man… Sorry, the Dentist Is In

by Dane Masters

Hooray, that annual trip to the dentist is almost here. You've been anxiously awaiting it; right? Maybe you have a toothache, and you want the "drill man" to take a quick poke around in your mouth for possible decay. Yikes! This is killing me just talking about it.

Your Least Favorite Healthcare Appointment

Visiting the dentist is one activity I do not cherish. But it could be much worse if you go in there with your throbbing toothache. Just imagining the cavity and that menacing drill going into it could make the bravest of hearts pound. Can someone lose that drill, please? There is hope though take good care of your teeth so you do not have to meet the drill.

Sometimes you feel a slight pain within your teeth. When that happens, I have always thought there is a cavity in there for sure as what else could cause that pain? Actually, toothache can be caused by several things. I remember I had to visit my dentist because of a persistent toothache. He discovered a part of the filling is gone, but no cavity. That was quite a relief.

Important Dental Pre Care

One more reason for having that annoying toothache is having uncovered roots. Vigorous brushing could sometimes expose the roots of the teeth which could let in liquid along the base of the gums. This can cause toothache or sensitive teeth. From childhood, we have been drilled (no pun intended) on the ways of dental and gum care. Brushing after every meal or at least twice a day and flossing will surely keep your dentist away from you most of the time. I highly advise using a fluoride rinse at least once a day. This will strengthen your teeth, making it healthier even without the aid of your dentist.
