Golf Cages: Clean The Garage So You Can Practice Anytime

It's estimated world wide there are 61.1 million golfers with 26.2 million in just the US alone. That means a lot of courses and many of us working on improving our game. But for the majority of us golf season is only from April to October. Otherwise the weather is too cold, rainy or snowy.

You can always escape the cold weather by hopping a plane to Florida, Arizona, or Nevada. But most of us have to plan those trips and can't just hop on a plane to play a round. Would be nice though...But we can keep our golf skills in good form even during the off season.

As long as you can find some open space you can get in some quality practice time. And this will even work if there's snow on the ground.

Some tools are needed to help your "off" season practice. One is a good golf net. With a good golf net you can work on your swing without chasing the ball across an open field or in your garage.

When you combine the golf net with a golf practice mat you're ready to practice. Pick a golf practice mat where you can use your own tees. This will give a similar feel to being on a real golf course. With the simulated grass of the practice mat your experience will be similar when using your driver or irons.

Other specialty mats are made to mimic the various lie positions of the ball. So you can practice using your wedge in uphill, downhill or side of hill positions. Using the practice mat in combination with a golf net or golf cage makes it easy to retrieve your balls. You'll have more time to practice rather than chasing the balls around the field.

Things To Look For When Buying A Golf Net Or Golf Cage

A stationary net gives you the ability to practice your drive as well as your chip shots. With a golf net or golf cage you spend your time and effort working on your game, not on running around picking up golf balls. Durability and ease of use is the key for a golf net or golf cage.

You want a net that pops up and folds easily. You don't want to spend your practice time assembling the net and have no time left to practice. You want practice time with a golf club in hand not a screwdriver.

Golf cages take the durability and protection of a golf net one step further. You're going to want a golf cage that is UV and mildew resistant. That way no matter the sun or the rain, your cage will stay in good shape.

Assembly is important too. Who wants to spend hours putting things together? Look for ease of set up. A number of cages use snap-in poles and easy twist eye bolts for easy assembly and setup. In fact many don't require the use of tools at all. The easier your golf cage is to assemble the more you'll want to use it for practice.

So when the weather turns cold, you can still get in your practice time with your golf cage and practice mat. This way when the weather turns sunny and warm again you'll be ready to show your game off.
