Surviving Without Power

Recently, a good friend of mine had a problem where the power was off for three days.  Now, thankfully this happened during the fall as heating wasn't an issue.

But in order to survive, we rely on such things as our stove and lights each and every day.  She was able to use her camp stove to make her meals, but most of the food in their fridge and freezer spoiled because there was no electricity.

She also told me that she learned from her previous mistakes and didn't depend on battery powered flashlights for light in emergencies because usually you would end up with dead batteries when you needed them the most.

Instead she used a crank flashlight to provide light when she needed it.  Just a couple of cranks and she had all the light that she needed.  I think that I will have to buy some for our home as we have power outages frequently.
