Welcomed To College

I decided that it might be worth going back to college to finish my degree.  For those of you who know that I went to college (there should be some of you out there), you know that I am just a few classes shy of a Computer Science degree.

So what I have done is request an application and welcome kit that just arrived in the mail a few days ago.  Inside you find the traditional application stuff such as the application, class calendar, and other "learn our campus" types of things.  But there was one thing that was new in my welcome kit that I had not seen before.

Student credit card applications.

I was a little surprise by this, on the other hand, times have changed.  Back when I started college, we did have a sprinkling of college student credit cards in our welcome week package, but that was it.  Back in those days, I was a bit younger (think twelve years or so) and I was happy to have a choice of credit cards for students - as I didn’t have one at the time.

But now, I wonder if the people that are sent this welcome package run into credit difficulties before they even make it to college.  I remember my big spending spree when I got my first credit card - I just hope that college students are more responsible today than they were when I started college.  But I would guess they are not.
