Hooking Up My Computer To My Gigabit Router

I just picked up a new router today that supports gigabit Internet.  Since we have a Media Center PC that we stream movies to in our living room, I thought the extra bandwidth would be perfect for our needs.

But our old network cable that we were using before just wouldn’t be fast enough.  So we bought some new CAT6 cables that support the new speed and standard.

After hooking up the network to the router we did some tests to see if we noticed a difference - and it is amazing.  There is no stuttering in video playback while streaming video from a machine in another room.  It was definitely worth the investment.
