Maid of Honor Speech Made at the Last Minute
One of my best friends got married on October 27th and she had asked me to be the Maid of Honor. I couldn't pass up the opportunity, we have been best friends forever, and I wanted my speech to be great.
Now this was the first time that I ever had the opportunity to be the maid of honor, so I had never created a Maid of Honor toast before. I wanted it to be truly great, something her and her new husband would remember forever.
I checked out quite a few websites about wedding toasts and speeches to find some samples for me to work with. In total I spend about four weeks writing and rehearsing my speech, though I was not able to memorize it completely.
When it came to the big day, we all went out to a small town about three hours from home for the wedding. About midway through the day I realized that I had forgotten my toast at home, and I needed to find something quick.
I stopped in at the local Internet cafe, and picked out a speech from a free wedding toasts website. The rest of the day went without a hitch, and it was one of the most beautiful weddings I had ever attended. Someday I might tell her where I got the toast from, but till then, it will be my little secret.

Making Homemade Jewelry
I have had a hobby for a number of years now making homemade jewelry. Even though the pieces I make are made at home, there is no reduction in quality compared to what you would get at a store. In fact, in some respects, the jewelry I make is better - as I am very meticulous.
Now for about the past year or so, I have been making jewelry combining loose diamonds with Chain mail. I make mostly bracelets and earrings, and they are very popular - and very beautiful.
I make a couple of trips per year to purchase my diamonds. I particularly like two sets of wholesalers that sell me the diamonds at a reasonable price. The Houston diamonds I buy are of a larger carat or size. Quite often I use these diamonds on pieces that are more expensive, or are designed to stand out.
The San Antonio diamonds I buy are smaller, but are of better clarity. I find myself selling pieces made with these diamonds to customers that are a little pickier about the color of their stones.
This hobby has become very popular and it is getting to the point where I need to expand my operations. Hopefully I will be able to find someone with the skill and drive to help me succeed in this business.

Preparing to Change Careers
I have been working at the same job now for over ten years - and I am getting sick of it. I had originally started this job just after college, but now that I am older I would like a career that is a little more exciting.
With that in mind, I have decided to start looking for a new job. I managed to find an old resume and tried to update it, but to be honest, I don't really know what works anymore. Looking online I did find some resume samples to model mine after, but after about an hour of work, I really was not happy with the way it looked.
This was taking too long for me and I had better things to do. So, I turned to a resume writing service to relieve my stress. They are going to have the work done by Friday this week, and then I can go give my resume out to the places that I have listed as potential employers.
I just cannot wait to change jobs... I have been here way too long...

Reminiscing Over our Last Anniversary
Last year, my husband and I planned a trip to Quebec for our anniversary. Rather than using a travel agent, we wanted to completely plan the trip ourselves. I did a search on Quebec City Hotels and was delighted to see so many great prospects. As I wanted a full experience, we decided that we would split our stay over two hotels.
The first hotel we stayed at was the Hotel Capitole Quebec. It was a delightful little hotel built in 1903. The dining was fabulous and the hotel even had a theatre where we watched the Elvis Story. There was a beautiful terrace that we enjoyed sitting on to enjoy the warm weather.
The second hotel we stayed at was the Hotel Clarion. This one was much larger, but equally as impressive. While there, we were treated to individual massages at Spa Vitalite and were given complimentary passes to Valcartier slide park. The dining was wonderful.
Our experiences with both hotels were positive ones and we would not hesitate to recommend either to friends.

Help Planning a Trip to Disney World
We have been considering taking a trip to Disney World and Universal Studios for a long time. Thing is, we don't know anyone that has gone there, and I wanted to make sure we would know the best places to go and the best places to stay.
Instead of having the hassle of going to the library and trying to find books, I decided to take my search online. I stumbled across a Disney World forum and posted my questions.
Within a day, I had the opinions of about 20 people regarding where I should stay and what attractions that I should see. I learned that the Disney World Resort Hotels had both the best customer service and were the most family friendly.
Armed with the knowledge that I found online, I am going to go talk to a travel agent. At least I will have an idea of what to expect, and the questions I should ask.
We haven't told the kids that we are going yet- I think that we will tell them at Christmas. I hope they like the surprise!

Nokia 6300 – My Free Cell Phone
I decided this weekend that I have had enough with pay phones. After the payphone ate over two dollars in quarters, and a few choice words, it was clear what I needed to do - get a cell phone.
Now, it has been a long time since I have looked at mobile phones, so I really didn't know what to look for. But what I did know is the things I wanted the phone to do: play MP3s, take pictures, and have the ability to have a Bluetooth headset.
I went to a local retailer to signup for mobile phone service and get a mobile phone. It ended up that I picked a good day to go shopping - they had a special on where I could choose one of three free phones with a two year contract. Two of the phones looked really cheap, and didn't really catch my attention.
But the Nokia 6300 caught my eye and it was love at first sight. It could do everything I was looking for and more - I could even listen to the radio should I tire of the MP3 player. I had a good feeling about this phone - I know a few friends that had this phone and they all loved it.
So, I signed up and went home with my new gadget. I am sure that I am going to waste the rest of the day playing with it, but I do have one thing to look forward to: no more payphones.

Helping to Soup-Up a Mustang
One of my best friends, Bruce, has been an avid Ford Mustang fan for many years. Recently, he was able to get a hold of a newer 2005 Mustang. The mileage on the car was a little high and the drive was a little bumpy, so he decided to fix it up a little bit.
Today, we put the car up on jacks and took a look underneath the car. It looks like the car will need some work including a new Mustang suspension - which will result in a smoother ride. We are going to go to some local stores and check online to see what we can find - and continue fixing up the car next weekend.

Learning About Website Promotion
I have just started out with my own website, so I have decided I should learn how to market my website. I really had no idea where to begin, but I figured I could find the answers I was looking for on the Internet.
A quick search is all it took to find millions of results - which didn't help me a whole lot. In fact, it was a little overwhelming. Close to the top of the list, I did find an article directory - and I thought it was worth the look.
At the article directory, I tried my search again - this time for marketing articles. I browsed through the results and read a few articles. I did find a common theme throughout - I should have my site listed on web directories.
What is a web directory?
There was one great article that helped me with the definition of a web directory. It explained that a web directory was basically like a search engine except that it was edited by humans - so the sites on them should be more relevant.
I found a few good web directories to submit my sites too - time will tell if my work will pay off.

Reconditioned Lazy Boy Recliners
One of my hobbies is restoring old furniture and selling it. One of the most profitable pieces of furniture to restore is a lazy boy recliner.
The reason they are such a lucrative piece of furniture is because they are comfortable and maintain their resale value. I buy the chairs at pawn shops and thrift stores. Sometimes I can even find some at the garbage dump (though it has to be in good shape for me to take it).
Some of these chairs I pick up are in various conditions of disrepair. I use some of them just for the lazy boy parts inside, while others just need some simple restoration.
Once the chairs are restored and sold I throw in a lazy boy slip cover (which I buy in bulk) to help the customer match their new chair to their home. This adds the finishing touch to an already reconditioned chair. You would be amazed at the waiting list for the chairs I recondition and the number of satisfied customers - this alone makes my work worthwhile.

Lighting Up Our Home
The light fixtures in our home seem to have come straight out of the 1980s. They are old and ugly - it is time to change the look of our home.
Just like our old bathroom, I have been nagging my husband for a long time to take me to the store to get new light fixtures, but he has not been really receptive to the idea. I decided that it was time to take initiative and do it myself.
I decided to take a look online to find a style that would be appropriate for me - I am very much into antiques. After about half an hour, I found that quoizel lighting would be the most appropriate for me. All of these light fixtures have the character I have been looking for to complement the antiques through my house.
I placed an order online and have to be patient until they arrive. They cannot get here too soon - these old fixtures are driving me crazy!
