Helping my Son Write Eulogies - A Homework Assignment

Now, I am not trying to sound morbid here.  Strangely enough, my son came home with a homework assignment to write eulogies of himself and two of his classmates.  They are expected to be positive and highlight how that person affected their lives.

The teacher sent home a "how to write a eulogy" book for him to get an outline for his project.  There were quite a few good ideas about what should be included and what should not be in the speech.

Now, I know the two classmates that he will be writing about and we made a list about the things that he values about their friendships and how his life has changed because of them.  We also wanted to spice things up a bit, so we found some funeral poems that we could include in his eulogies.

We have about a week or so before the project is due, so time is on our side.  I think that when we are done, we will have both learned a valuable skill and learned about what we value in our friendships.  Hopefully this will allow the both of us to be better people and better friends to those we care about.
