Thinking of Old Age
Now, I am not really that old - I am coming up on the big thirty after all. But that doesn’t change the fact that I will be old someday, and I need to take the necessary steps to ensure that I will be taken care of when I am old - and not be a burden to my children.
I know that some of the steps will be the nest egg I save for my retirement, but with the cost of nursing homes, I don’t think I will be able to save enough. Instead I have been looking at other options that will leave the necessary finances in place to ensure I am taken care of.
It just so happens that I was reading a blog today that described my problem to a tee, and had the solution: insurance. You can purchase long term car insurance that is in place should you need extra medical care like a nursing home or assisted living facility. In fact, from the statistics I read, if you should need these extra services, usually your retirement savings are wiped out quickly.
I have made an appointment with an insurance broker to talk about my options. Sure I have 35 years until retirement, but I figure that just like life insurance, I can get a better deal when I am young. Besides, who knows when I will need it.
