I was talking to the mother of our neighbor today.  Her daughter Melissa has had a problem with drugs for the last two years that I have known her.  She has progressively become more unstable to the point where her children have been taken away.

This was the last straw for her - she checked herself into addiction treatment so that she might be able to get her children back.  It has been fifteen days and according to her mother, things are rough but are going ok.  She is supposed to be out in about thirty days, after which she will have an evaluation, and then get her children back.  I hope that she does as her children and my kids play together.  We will just have to wait and see what happens.
