Bypass your School Filter Using a Web Proxy

I remember as a child being told by my parents what websites I could visit, how much time I could spend on the computer, and what I could watch on TV.  As time went on, the thought of growing up and becoming an adult seemed great: I could choose to do what I wanted and when I wanted it.

Or so I thought.

Little did I know that when I enrolled in the college that I had chosen to pursue my degree in Computer Science, that it would be just like living at home.

This time my parents were not the problem.

No, it was the computer lab personnel and the school policy dictating that even though I paid to come to this school, they did not trust me enough so that they had to limit me from visiting certain sites.  I can understand the censoring of mature websites, but MySpace?

Come on.

Not updating my page for a year was kind of out of the question, so I had to look for alternative ways to bypass my school filter.

Thank goodness for search engines!

Just a quick search and I found what I was looking for: web proxies.  These sites allow you to surf anonymously and access sites that would otherwise be blocked by the filters in the school computer labs.  It seemed fitting that the site I decided to use was called Bypass School Filter.

Now back to working on my MySpace page…
